Join us on Thursday, May 22nd, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for the SuperStars Sports Challenge Kickoff event, hosted by Odell Brewing Company, located at 800 East Lincoln Avenue in Fort Collins.

This event kickoff is your opportunity to learn more about this year's SuperStars Sports Challenge. It also provides you a chance to meet and size up your competition. Who knows... the next time you see them you may be strapped into a Big Wheel, getting ready to race. And yes, that is one of the SuperStars events this year. So you should come to the kickoff and learn what fun awaits you and your team at the 2008 SuperStars Sports Challenge.

Welcome to Partners Mentoring Youth!

Can you think back and remember someone in your life who made an impact on you? Maybe it was a coach, a relative or a close friend. Hanging out with them could have been anything from throwing a baseball around to sitting down and talking over a soda. Whatever the case may be, we all know how it feels to have someone invest a little bit of time in us.

Partners Mentoring Youth of Larimer County is a Northern CO volunteer program that matches positive adult role models with youth, ages 8-17, who could use a little extra support; the same type of support we have all had at some point in our lives.

A Colorado volunteer can make a big difference by spending time with a Larimer County youth, most of the time enjoying activities they already do on a daily basis. Through one-to-one mentoring, as well as ongoing recreational activities, life skills training and community service opportunities, Partners Mentoring Youth gives these youth a better chance to reach their full potential in life.

And it’s proven that the positive influence of role models can have a lasting impact. Program evaluation results show that after one year of being matched with a Senior Partner, Junior Partners:

Show a significant increase in their future orientation
Are more committed to living a drug and alcohol-free life
Show greater attachment to their family, friends and other adults
Show an increase in self-esteem

Those are only a few of the benefits our Junior Partners receive. The Northern CO volunteer program currently serves almost 300 youth. If you are a Colorado volunteer who wants the opportunity to impact the life of a Larimer County youth, contact us to receive more information on the different ways to be involved. Who knows, it just might enrich your own life, too!
